Semiotics

Semiotics is the study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation. The main purpose of semiotics is to look into meaning and how meaning is communicated.

Types of Semiotics

There are 3 types of semiotics, Icons, Indexes and Symbols. An Icon has a physical resemblance to the thing that is being represented. An Index is when something is showing evidence of what is being represented and A Symbol has no resemblance between the something that is called signifier and something that is called the signified.
